Do you know who the anime character King Kazuma is? If not, one glance at this figma says it all. A bad-to-the-bone, bunny-headed avatar who happens to hold the title of 'Champion Fighter' in the virtual world of OZ. I wonder if this figma attracts me so much because it touches me in the inner id that spans two decades of the not too distant past?
First, we have the 1985 Marty McFly vest that is probably in fashion once again. And second, we have the raver goggles that are probably timeless, but have since been removed from the daily wardrobe. Well... mine at least. On a related note, his fists obviously know how to party too, as they are donned with what appear to be goggles matching his head gear. Lastly, the belt of a champion. Never owned or earned one of those myself, but as a teenager, I thought Hulk Hogan wasn't as cool whenever his went missing.
You thought this article was about a King Kazuma figma and not my childhood?!? Say no more... I just got through pre-ordering both of mine. ^_^ Yes, it's so cool I had to get one to play with, and one for keeping mint.
The film by Mamoru HOSODA - Summer Wars was released in Japan on August 1, 2009. I don't usually rate an anime as "epic". So when I do, take it as the best possible recommendation I can give. To illustrate, as I type THIS ANIME IS EPIC, I am getting goose bumps and wondering why I don't have it running in the background... I haven't been so entertained, gushed with eye-candy, massaged intellectually, and had my itch for fresh sci-fi to be scratched since the likes of Akira and Ghost in the Shell came to Blu-ray. Whether one of the big dogs in the US decides to bring it over or not, it will forever be in my list of classics. Check out the official preview:
Here's a glimpse of something to keep an eye out for too:

That really is a terrific movie. It hasn't been licensed yet?? I'm surprised! I also loved Girl who Leapt Through Time.
I know right? What's the hold up?!? I would definitely get this on blu-ray if the US put it out.
