Bakusou Yumeuta

I wanted to update everyone on my feelings I gave in my Soul Eater review which is left unchanged, just a small addition... This is my favorite song from the entire sound-track. I was able to track down the music video although the quality is pretty bad. Hopefully the vid will still be there by the time you read this.
;)

Freeing Hiyori Tamura Figure

Finally a 1/4 scale figure that you can actually display in an existing location! ^_^
I used to have the entire set of Freeing Haruhi Suzumia figure bunny girls but they took up too much space in my figure display case. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the huge figures, they absolutly rock! - But no matter how much space you have, some day it will get full and if you want to keep making room for the new figure goodness you either need to scale down or sell off your older stuff. Not this time though...

The sitting position is not only moe moe, but the 1/4 Scale Hiyori Tamura Lucky Star Figure can actually be placed on your standard IKEA figure display case shelf. ***YAY***

What 1/4 scale figures do you own?

Copic Ciao Manga Sets

Copic Ciao Manga Bundle - 4 sets
In the next few months I expect some holiday wish lists to be updated in the aspiring artist community with requests for 1 or more Copic Ciao Manga sets. Whether you are entirely new to drawing, or just trying to test the Copic waters with your already righteous drawing skills... These little manga marker sets are packaged with some absolute drawing goodness in them... The most popular colors used by professional manga artists separated into 4 color groups. Skin, Primary, Pastel and Muted. This makes starting your marker collection a snap, especially if you can only afford to buy one set at a time. If you are looking for value though, it's just best to buy the Copic Ciao Manga Bundle Kit which includes all 4 sets. When you do this you can qualify for free shipping at OtakuFuel.com - If you choose to make 4 stocking stuffers out of the bundle, that works too. ;) - At the time of this article the bundle was $111.80 USD.
If you are ready to shop now please come back and finish the article! ***Thanks!*** Click this link to buy the Copic Ciao Manga 4 set Bundle Kit with free shipping, or add it to your wish list.

Once you prove to your parents figure out that you are going to be drawing for the rest of your life, the Copic Various Ink refills will keep these sets alive for years and years and years to come - at a fraction of the cost. When you consider that you can refill the same marker over 10 times for roughly the same cost as the marker itself, it just doesn't make sense to buy the markers over and over and over again.

What can you do with these markers? The sky and your creativity is the limit... But for both beginners and pros, checkout mangalessons.com for free ideas, drawing tutorials and inspiration. My latest inspiration comes from this video courtesy of zkittyz on YouTube:

Soul Eater DVD Boxset

Part 1 of 4
What do you do when you are behind the times? Well you watch one anime at a time and hope that someday you catch up to what the rest of your friends are talking about. It seems that the Soul Eater anime is still making waves albeit misleading IMO... Fresh character designs, recycled stories from various other shows, make the Soul Eater anime a great mash-up of familiar stories while not ever giving a direct nod to any one particular show. This is a point I'm not clear how I feel about... Perhaps I feel the Soul Eater anime was trying to make an original splash that could never be?!? Taking this point seriously requires more originality IMO.

On the positive side, there was not one single character that I did not like or think wasn't written or designed well. And that is saying something huge. Even my favorite animes have one or two characters I could easily do without. And I think that is the strongest point the Soul Eater anime brings to the table.

If you can afford the steep price tag to buy the 4 current boxes then hey, go for it. It seems however, that FUNimation has been doing a couple of different things with their anime releases... make a batch and make some money... Make another batch, repackaged and recover some costs... Then squeeze every last drop of milk out of an old cash-cow that they can. In the latter case, you can walk away with a pretty nice discount on an entire series... the only down-side is that there is no guarantee that discounted release a couple years from now will always happen...

Back to Soul Eater now... I would rent it first and if you think it is epic, don't wait for the discounted Soul Eater DVD boxset as I don't see this being a classic. Sure it's been hyped plenty, and I am not an expert on forecasting anime popularity... But if it does get a re-release it will probably be due to the hype only as I'm sure the love will cool off.

Wrap-up: Soul Eater is over-hyped, but still worth watching. The Soul Eater anime failed to inspire me or make me want to add it to the rotation of  "watch-again-stuff". You decide... the preview is actually terrible, but at least you can get an idea of the character designs that I really enjoyed:

Glendale DMV Hours of Operation

-0- for the foreseeable future. (as of 09/09/2010)

So after a decade of expiration... I am trying to get my M1 / M2 license - but I guess first my permit... then the license... anyways... I crammed all morning on 3 cheat-sheet tests that my cousin snagged from his tests and then left my house to go take my written test without my wallet. No WALLET= No Drivers License = no motorcycle permit.... I didn't notice this though until I was half-way to the California DMV. So I turned around went home and grabbed my wallet... Now back on the road and rehearsing the tests in my head, excited to get my permit once again that I had let expire 10 years ago... and when I arrive I find this:

Too bummed out to drive to another location, I called it a day. But great news! - I was able to make an "appointment" at the neighboring DMV in Pasadena with the first availablitiy of 41 days from now! ***YAY***

Cromartie High School Troll

Cromartie Thin-Pak
Don't you just love/hate the internet? Don't you just love/hate iEverything? Don't you just love/hate the freedom of speech exercised on message boards? Don't you just love/hate Internet Trolls?

Well you all know I love anime. And I love Cromartie High School. This is in my top ten skits taken from the show. If you like this, there is a flawless chance you will like the entire series. The Cromartie High School Thin-Pak can be picked up for around $35 and is a must have for the shelf.

A friend shared the video below with me and when I told him I had the whole anime series on DVD he asked me why I never recommend it to him... anime-friend-fail. For my type of humor, Cromartie High School is a staple if not described as a foundation for my humor and jokes.

If you wondered why I said "love/hate" internet trolls above, the only reason I can say love at all is because I'm sure I've trolled in the past myself, and this video would not exist without Internet Trolls. Enjoy...

Tribute to Mario Bros.

Time to share some Mario Madness. A little bit of old school with some crazy new glitch tricks and some unreal engine Mario goodness. I was able to do a few of the tricks in the first video when I was a kid... but there are some glitch/tricks that I was completely blown away by... Enjoy the shows!

Mario in 3-D anyone? Well, 3-D of a 2-D game turns out like this... :)

This parody proves once and for all the impact this game made on my generation.

Hope you feel like playing with Mario right about now... you could probably waste your entire life watching similar clips on youtube, but these are the best IMO. Until next time my anime and gamer junkies!

Beck anime review

CIC WARNING!
Beck MCS DVD
The anime about to be reviewed contains strong naughty-adult language.
*The Beck anime silly, not my review! :P

The teenage rock scene painted in Beck the anime aka 'Beck Mongolian Chop Squad' was pretty solid accurate for a fictional story. The emotions that are going through a young musicians veins are all across the board. From emo-and-uninspired, to emo-with-talent and lastly the best of all... Talented and heroic. Sounds like a recipe for hours of nostalgia for old farts or inspiration for those of you in your early teens? Well it is. On both counts.
Keepin' it real, FUNimation did the voice dub in F-bomb-vision. This turned me off a bit... but as my senses were dulled and I relaxed back into my documentary observation chair it started to go down pretty smooth... I guess if I had to direct this anime or supervised the translation of the script, it would have been a tough call, but would have had to keep it real too if I didn't want to alter the truth and the overall accuracy of the scene.

In short, I really enjoyed the Beck anime dvd box set for it's genius writing, touching character development, and making me feel the heroism once again of a style music I'd forgotten from my youth. But more than the style of music, the warm and fuzzy I felt at the end was truly rare and savored. Something I wouldn't have felt or experienced without watching it. You should do the same. This is an anime largely overlooked, and that's a shame, because even though the language was IMO very rough, it made my epic list.
Watch a preview to wet your appetite BTW the preview sucks, sorry:

Robochi Gets Flamed - meme

For all the lovely things the internet brings us, occasionally there are some extra lovely internet goodies... Like the fact that sometimes trigger happy fingertips can cause deep emotional trauma if not mild angst.

Here's an anime / otaku themed parody of a real everyday life ~sniff~ occurrence. I hope that my mature audience finds this as funny as I did... And I hope that my immature audience finds this educational. :P

Yes... You aren't the only person with feelings. Anyhow, for those who will relate as the pisser or the pissed on... enjoy the show! And don't forget to thank Jonathan Kim for this vids creation.

Lucky Drops

"Lucky Drops"
Have you ever camped out in your backyard, beach, mounitains? How about in a parking slip at the local parking garage? Do you think you could live like that though? I guess if you are a Japanese buinsness person who is never at home anyways... or maybe a NEET who has been disowned and can't afford anything else.

In Japan, homes are shrinking in lot size in certain areas but growing in both popularity and height. These plots of land are as small as 300 square feet! That's incredibly small! I liked this house first because of it's catchy name, then for the genius that went into it's design.

In the picture of one of these dwelling spaces called "Lucky Drops" the architect reduced the exterior wall to just millimeters thick material of fiber reinforced plastic and super-thin membranes of steel. The name refers to squeezing the last drop of volume out of extremely limited space. Sounds like a bottle of (grey goose at my house...)

These ultra-small homes save on space by getting rid of things like a foyer, hallways, interior walls and closets. Windows are commonly placed near the base of the exterior (and only) walls. The bathroom door = a curtain. Furniture folds up into the wall, the translucent skin or shell of the house maximizes the natural light and saves ceiling space with the absence of lamps and a gaudy chandelier.

All and all I'm guessing that this type of architecture wouldn't be very popular in America. Especially Texas, unless they have zero-crime drug legal zones. Why? -- Because crack and lucky drops are cheaper.

As for me? I've lived in 400 square feet before... I almost went insane. In fact, maybe I did for a spell. How small of a living space do you think you could live in?

Initial D Anime

The Initial D Anime is EPIC. I could stop here and that would no doubt lead 9 out of 10 of you to check out this Tokyo Pop re-release brought to us by FUNimation. But I can't help myself, for the 1 out of 10 readers that don't yet trust me when I use the word "epic" read on...

This is one of the few anime dvds that changed my life. Seriously. I was more into off-road 2-wheeling and lifted trucks and rock-crawling (my ancient readers may remember the old pictures archived off-line now) than pavement junkie sports. I used to scoff at my friends that ran from the cops at the local midnight strip and take weekend canyon bombs... Then I watched Initial D. Yep... I sold my 4x4 and bought an FF. ----screeeeeech!-FF-what?!?----  For those of you that watched Initial D already, you may wonder why I didn't go the eight-six route... That is the beauty of this anime... every style of racer, setup and course type is covered. There is something for everyone. I felt like I was going to drifting school during each episode! Don't flame my FF... I know it's not drifting - it's power-sliding... but hey, to each their own. Anyway back to the anime dvd review...

Do you remember how uncute everyone in Akira was? Get ready for round 2 (or maybe I've used this analogy clear up to round 300 by now) of uncuteness of character design... Nah... dare is say... ugly character design? The statement like Akira is made clear from the get-go. The character designer of Initial D obviously doesn't want the audience of this show to be fanboys and fangirls over the characters. They want to engage you with the story, science, physics, cars, cliff-hangers and yes... with a few nods of teenage angst to keep the story realistic to a degree.

But PLEASE don't let my snarks on the uncuteness detour you... Every race brings a new technique, a surprise that builds the main character's (Takumi) driver-charisma level to new peaks all the while staying true to his first car... his Trueno 86. I get goose bumps every time I watch this anime and usually DO "try this stuff at home" - get the car re-painted and tap those guardrails again. But don't be like me... Live vicariously through Takumi and the gang it's safer that way. Check out the preview:

Learn Japanese with Tancho Kana View

Tancho Kana View
A few days ago I wrote a piece recommending the Android app Talk to me Cloud to assist you not just in learning Japanese which is helpful for the hardcore anime fan, but that app will help you learn while smoothing out awkward conversations in other languages as well.

For the next few app review posts, I'm going to focus on the best free apps to learn Japanese. Some of them might be $1 but if I write it up positive, pay the buck, it's worth it.

The app today that I recommend for beginners is Tancho Kana View (I'm a beginner too and have been for years). I can see how this app will help you to quickly learn Japanese Hiragana and Katakana script as it claims... I've used Rosetta Stone level 1 and I think you are better off starting with this app for free (I'm learning just as fast on this free app) then if you must spend the $200 bucks on Rosetta Stone later because you are rich (I bought mine before all these free apps were available) then be my guest... ^_^

There are a lot of apps out there that will help you learn Japanese but not all of them have audio recorded by a native speaker to help with your pronunciation. Tancho Kana View covers that base for you. No more getting confused reading the "i" as and "e" and vice versa, as the audio support smacks you upside the head with a simple tap of your finger on the screen (the slap is optional and executed by your own hand). This app is perfect for memorization style type of learning. And the fact that its on your phone is a great way to fill up those moments of when you are ruling or waiting for the next thing to happen whether it's the bus, the train, or for mom to bring you another role of T.P.

Stay tuned for apps to help you learn Japanese in more intuitive interactive ways next time...

FMA Blu-Ray

FMA on Blu-ray baby! It's here! It's crispy! Again I shout from the roof-tops, "I love you FUNimation!"

Back in Part 2 of the anime blu-ray set of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood when the moment has finally arrived for fans of Edward and Alphonse Elric as the brothers encounter new characters, dangers, and mysteries in Part Two of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, which happens to be "the most anticipated new anime in years" according to Otaku USA.
While I agree this anime is great and totally appreciate the support that FUNimation has given this series (as well as the fans). This is the kind of hype that I feel for lots of anime titles that no one ever seems to mention or even talk about. I guess for now, I'll keep them to myself and the few thousand that have had their eye-lids permanently stitched open.
Enjoy the part 2 trailer from FUNimation which wasn't changed at all from the part 1 trailer except for the box art ;P

Talk to Me Cloud

How is your Japanese? Are you still learning Japanese or do you not care?
If you are learning so that you can enjoy your anime and video games on a whole new level, and appreciate new tools that help keep the learning fresh, tune in as I will be reviewing my favorite tools to help keep your vocabulary growing.

My new favorite toy is an Android Application called "Talk to Me Cloud". While not intended to help you learn a language properly as you would in a classroom setting. It is awesome for helping you learn useful phrases and my favorite use is for those really bad anime subtitles that make you go.. HHUUUUH?!? If it's a key moment in the plot and the subtitles of your anime are on crack, just hold your phone up to the speaker and let the anime rip. 7 out of 10 times I estimate you will get a proper translation. Pretty dang sweet.

The application uses a cloud based speech to speech translating program and supports over 50 languages at the time of this write up. It's got a ways to go, but is killer and beats anything we had in this part of the toolkit to date. Not only great for anime, but if you wanted to learn how to say a few simple phrases in a bunch of languages, this would be a fun way to do it... Oh, and don't bother saying bad words to the cloud, it won't hear you... Hunt it down in the Android Market by searching for "Talk to Me Cloud" it's free!

Body Pillows not just for Love-seats

Oh James... James, James, James... (and Tina)...Why couldn't you have used official US licensed goods from GE if you were gonna plug anime, otaku, moe body pillow-ness on the sexiest show on NBC? Yes, I mean 30 Rock...

In episode # 69 (I guess they had to do something edgy for this ep#) James Franco sports a body pillow named Kimiko-tan. Not the cutest body-pillow in the offerings but the point is made loud and clear that the writing staff thought that this would be a funnay thing to totally blow out of proportion... And they were right. It was off the charts funny. No doubt a story similar to the "Love in 2-D" article found in the NYT was inspiration for otaku humiliation. But while one or two otaku may be humiliated that their secret love is now common knowlege, the majority will either laugh along with the gag, or have the confidence to stand side-by-side, arm-in-arm with their true love. I mean, if you can't shout your true-love's name from the rooftops then can you really say your love is true?

Maybe this article or episode 69 of 30 Rock has awakend the flame of passion in you? You can pick up your new 'almost' life-sized anime body pillow girlfriend at OtakuFuel, your online anime body pillow / girlfriend trafficker. Then you can turn your love-seat companion into a real life-companion... that also doubles as a pillow... that also makes for a shoulder to cry on... That alsoOKSTOP!

Missed 30 Rock episode 69? Well, you can check if NBC has it online at the time of reading this article, wait for it to come to DVD or re-run... Or you can just watch some behind the scenes while the embed below lasts... enjoy Otaku Franco...

New Anime on Blu-ray - Casshern Sins

::No Spoilers::

Casshern Sins parts 1 and 2 blu-ray was just released by my favorite (yes I've decided for today) anime license snatch and bag company - FUNimation.

I've heard a lot of bunk-junk from friends who can't stomach this anime. I have seen the first few episodes, and played with the Casshern character in the Wii Street Fighter crossover... But that has nothing to do with the Blu-ray!! The point is... I really dig on this anime. Casshern has that kiddy cartoony style look to him and even the animation seems like it would be good for a younger audience. But I think that's where the kid-appreciation ends. The concept, the story, the character development is a little too deep for most kids in my opinion.

Casshern is the main character in a post-apocalyptic world that he is responsible for all but creating/destroying... however you wanna look at it... He has no memory of this however, which somehow redeems him in the viewers heart (plus it's just hearsay at this point). As he searches for answers and fights to save the dying... Casshern Sins is brought to you in all it's glory and it is truly beautiful, these fantastic Blu-ray anime dvds are set in two parts. Beautiful 16:9 format to fill up your juicy flat screen and 5.1 surround sound goodness in both English and Japanese (but not at the same time silly). Yep, the average series count'em 24 episodes - 12 episodes each blu-ray set (set 1 and 2) for a total of 24 cokes, 12 pizzas and 1 pee break per dvd swap.

Pick it up anywhere, or be an otaku and get fueled up with Casshern Sins Blu-ray goodness at OtakuFuel.
Not a full coke's worth but still something to wet your appetite:

Black Rock Shooter Blu Ray with LTD ED Petit Nendos

As if we weren't getting enough BRS goodness to save for / hunt-down already, GoodSmile company has up for pre-order through your favorite online anime shops something you see more in the video game world than the anime DVD world... Queue the screen lift and introducing a new blu-ray / petit bundle...

The Black Rock Shooter Blu-ray with Ltd. Ed. Petit Nendos. Moe enough for you? Hey, I'm glad to see the industry trying some creative ways to get peeps back into buying their content instead of just "evaluating" it indefinitely... Bundles are something otaku like myself go for albeit usually - begrudgingly. Yes, you have something I want, and the fact that it's limited makes me want it even more, but it still hurts the billfold each time I give into allowing the collection to grow. But some things are just too good to pass up right? Check a sneak peek:

You can pre-order this BRS bundle of blu-ray and petit goodness until August 23, 2010 at OtakuFuel.com
On which date I suspect this link will self destruct and you'll have to hit the refresh button every 60 seconds on your browser in Feb. to check if there was any extras that are made available.

Kuruneko - The Internet meme

Yokay, so you're here, that means you probably found this article because you love cats, like anime plushies that happen to also be kitties, or you are one of the few English reading blokes that digs on "Kuruneko". For the rest of my regular audience that already knows what Kuruneko is, give yourself a pat on the back. You are one cat loving otaku that truly knows how to dig up the good stuff. I think I'll start calling yall "nekotaku". (Great a new internet meme has just been born) As for me... no pats on the back deserved as I'm behind the times a bit. But hey, "Better Nate than lever!" Even Suppie who is pretty well versed in Japanese culture, hadn't heard of Kuruneko yet, and if she did, she wasn't sharing any new anime goodness with me... If you have no idea what Kuruneko is and haven't skipped ahead yet, take a ride with me as I discover what Suppie has been hiding from me...

くるねこ (Kuruneko)
First a blog entry-graduating to a manga, progressing on to anime fame in 50 episode shorts each about 3 minutes long. (A second season is in the works already! Wow I'm already way behind. Good thing each episode is only 3 mins long) The genre is a slice of life / comedy anime just about every day life with these cute cats that sometimes have an attitude. But isn't that the proper job of a cat?

The names of the five cats in the series I was able to dig up are:
ぼん Lanterns
胡ぼん Hu Lanterns
もんさん Mr. Mon
ポ子 Child P.O.
トメ Tome

Official Website of Kuruneko
Check out some Kuruneko videos online and try not to die of cuteness overload:
http://www.soku.com/search_video/type_tag_q_Kuruneko or check out the one I've selected for your clicky-clicky play happy finger:

Kuruneko over the last couple of years has been a Internet meme mostly in the circles of cat loving online Japanese communities.  Not surprising then that in the English speaking communities, that Kuruneko is almost unheard of. I'm hoping that a big dog like Broccoli picks this cute anime title up and translates it for us nekotaku. The 3 minute long episodes make for really short attention span kids and they tend to do shows like that... We'll see...

Of course the more wired we get, the more parodies and ytmnd stuff will happen to your original creation... In this case... IT'S A GOOD THING! -  I'll share with you the ShonenSean approved versions of these Kuruneko / Vocaloid smashups. janbox00 has some really cute vids up on their Youtube channel and they are all worth watching. This one is my favorite:

Now that you are an expert on Kuruneko, you probably are spreading this Japanese internet meme to all your English speaking comrades. I hope you get bragging rights as the first in your circle to spam the videos or make your own smash-up. Have fun! If you can't get enough of the Kuruneko goodness, Japan has all kinds of Kuruneko goodies, the first of which are plushies and to my knowledge they are currently only being offered by OtakuFuel in the stateside regions anyways... If you are interested in the family of Kuruneko plushies, here's some pics:

Kuruneko Family portrait

胡ぼん Hu Lanterns

もんさん Mr. Mon
ポ子 Child P.O.

トメ Tome
ぼん Lanterns
Which Kuruneko-chan is your favorite? For me I think it has to be Hu Lanterns. When my nice saw them all she about died. It was kind of like watching a Ryou Kuroyanagi reaction or something... glad it made her day... I hope that if Kuruneko is new to you that it made your day today too! That's all for now... Ho na na!

Copic and Prismacolor Marker Storage

Copic Empty 72pc wallet
So, HOW are you supposed to store your Copics or Prismacolor markers? Unfortunately, there is no one dogmatic answer to this question... But fear not, it's pretty easy to find something that works just right for you. There are many ways to store your markers and keep them organized... But it really comes down to your own personal preference and if you plan on being mobile and carrying a selection of colors on you all the time, some of the time or... Maybe you got your groove at the office, home, workshop, somewhere where you can leave something bulky and or that wouldn't exactly travel well. Lets take a look at some of the options that are typically available at your preferred copic marker store or stores that carry Prismacolor markers.

Open Copic 72pc wallet
Why save the best for last? First, let's talk about my new favorite and in my opinion... most versatile option yet. The empty wallets offered by Copic. In particular the one that will hold 72 markers. I love this wallet because it holds a TON of markers and has a strap that you can throw over your shoulder for on the go. At the same time, the copic 72 piece empty wallet is small enough to throw in your backpack if you are running to school and won't break if you drop it or are rough with your bag running from class to class. The best part is that when you finally get to wherever you are going, you can spread the wallet open and stand it up for easy viewing of all your colors in tow. Another reason I dig on the empty wallets is that they are not as prejudice as most of us are about what goes into them. As you will see in some of the options discussed later on in this article not all marker storage containers are flexible as to what you can put in them. :( Good thing we got these wallets! Whether you Copic or Prismacolor or both, these empty wallets will work for you.

Empty Copic marker case
Prismacolor stand
Next lets cover the lower zeny end of things. The empty plastic cases offered by Copic. (They aren't like the emperors new clothes... it's really in the picture to the left I swear!)These are clear and simple, and it's usually free when you order a set of markers, or purchase them in a set. OtakuFuel.com does offer the empty marker cases for a reasonable price though, and if you are planning on staying in one place or have a desk that is flat, these work best for the artist on a budget. The downside is that they will only hold one type of marker in them. If you bought a ciao plastic case, it will only hold ciao. Same goes for Sketch, Original, Wide etc. And forget about putting your Prismacolors in these. While we are on that subject lets dig right into the Prismacolor option that is included with their marker sets... If you are thinking about the stands that come with Prismacolor markers... While they look super cool, you first need to make sure that you will have a semi-permanent place to store / work with them. And second, you will probably want a beer while you try to figure out it's proper assembly, and then another beer for when you realize that you have one more reason to get the empty copic wallet I mentioned up above. In short, get someone smarter than me to build it for you and you might be pretty darn happy with it...

Sexy Copic Wire Stand
A better alternative for desktops, is a Copic Wire Stand that holds 72 Copic Original or Copic Sketch markers. It wasn't intended for Prismacolors but those should pop right in there too. It's not very portable, or abuse-able, but set-up is a cinch and looks sexy-hot-hot when it's filled up pretty. I for myself am kind of messy and move things around a lot so I still prefer the rugged wallet. Also, the Copic wire stand is a little pricey at a MSRP of $70! Cha-ching! Bargain hunters can usually pick one up for about $50-60 on average though, depending where you shop...

Next, the Copic Block Stand. This is a very versatile option, but can add up quick if you have a lot of markers or just wanna build a Jenga tower of markers... :p
Copic Block Stands
It's pretty sturdy but seems kind of pointless to transport it anywhere as the moment you do all the markers would fall out. Yep, this is best to also keep in a semi-permanent location. Each individual Copic Block Stand holds up to 36 Copic Ciao, Sketch, Original or Prismacolor markers. This is a fact. It may be made for Copics... but we won't tell, if your markers don't mind intermingling... ;)
If you stack a few of these together you can easily have over 100 markers at eye level on your desk. I don't know about you, but for me, that is plenty.

Copic Retail Display
For the sake of being complete, I want to cover the coolest way to store your markers in a fixed location. This option is for deep pockets and lots of desk / work space. It's really popular in certain circles, but certainly aren't for everyone. If you are a professional, you can probably justify getting one of these. If you are marker-phile / hobbist-crackhead, you will justify getting one of these. WHAT IS "THESE"?????

Wall-O-Copics
I am talking about one of those plastic goodness thingys you see in a retail store. Yep, an empty Copic marker retail display is king. Obviously, this is QUITE excessive for the average artist, and your money is probably better spent on increasing your color range or other more necessary art supplies. And seriously, if you can control yourself, you don't need 5 of every color... Most of these markers we discussed last a VERY long time if you use them on the right paper. Add to your collection over time and either refill your markers with Various Ink to save on cash or if you hate the mess and buy new markers... don't throw them away!! Do something really Otaku like make a wall of dead markers like some bars do with bottle caps and junk.
You know you don't throw your figure boxes away, so don't dis' a dead marker either. They are memoirs of your art! Seriously, I think it's cool to hang on to dead markers... but do whatever you want. Chuck 'em - I may cry a little though ~sniff

Wrap Up:
Although there are many shiny options to choose from and some no brainer stay the heck away from that one options - I vote for the Empty Wallet made by Copic simply for it's versatility, durability and cost.
